![]() *Practice writing their first and last name starting with a capital letter and lowercase letters for the rest. *Have your child practice reading and writing the list of Superkids memory words. The more they read, the better their fluency! Go over the Superkid’s letter books your child will bring home at the end of each unit. ![]() *Be sure to have your child read the Superkid’s reproducible books he/she brings home almost weekly! Keep them handy by their bed to read and re-read again. This will help your child build their comprehension skills. ![]() *While reading together, ask your child questions such as: What do you think will happen next? What was your favorite part of the story? What happened at the beginning, the middle and the end? Can you make a connection to the story? Use the words character, setting, problem and solution as you discuss the story. Spending just 15-20 minutes a day reading will make a world of difference in your child's abilities! As your child's reading skills grow, be sure he/she increases the time he/she reads to you! *Kindergarten children should be read to daily. Homework: Your child will spend each day in kindergarten working and playing hard! It is so important that he/she has some down time at home to recharge and be ready for the next exciting day! Daily homework will NOT be given but here are some fun things you can do at home to help your child have a successful kindergarten year: Be sure to keep it short and fun! Lots of learning can be accomplished through games and activities!
